He always wanted to become an actor and has participated in drama and acting in his school days. His debut movie is Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010 opposite Anushka Sharma. He has acted in the films like Lootera, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Gunday, and many more. He has worked with Deepika Padukone in the directorial of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ram Leela, also in Padmavati, and Bajirao Mastani. He got famous for the song Malhari from Bajirao Mastani. He has got Best actor awards for Gully Boy and Bajirao Mastani, He has acted in a biopic of Kapil Dev. 83. His upcoming movies are Rocky AurRani Ki Prem Kahanii.
