Vikram is a famous actor in South films. He has made many hit films like Anniyan, Dhool, Sammy, Ponniyin Selvan, and many other films. He was recently seen Ponniyin Selvan 2 which was a massive hit movie 350 crores at the box office.

He announced his upcoming film Thangalan which is a periodic drama film directed by Pa. Ranjith. The film was officially announced in December 2021 with the tentative title Chiyaan 61, as it is Vikram‘s 61st film as a lead actor, while the film’s title was revealed in October 2022. The music and background score are composed by GV Prakash Kumar.

The movie shooting started in  October 2022 in October 2022 with a short schedule in Chennai. They have shot in places like Madurai, Maldives, KGF, Hoganekal Falls, and many other places. The final schedule started in April, and was shot in Madurai and Chennai, with the shoot also halted temporarily in May, due to a rib injury that Vikram suffered on the sets, before resuming in June and then wrapping up shooting on 4 July.
